Assigning Movement

Index -> Playing the Game -> Planning Phase -> Movement Orders -> Assigning Movement

You can move any travel group containing ships between two systems that have connecting jump lanes. You can only assign movement to a travel group at a system (not those in hyperspace on the way to a destination).

There are three ways to move your fleets:

  • Single-click the fleet icon and look at your Information Panel, then click and drag an entity there to a local system. This orders the entity you dragged and any other entities in its travel group to move to the destination. (This type of movement is indicated by the single ship cursor.)
  • Single-click the fleet icon and look at your Information Panel, then click and drag on the blank space in a travel group box to a local system. This orders all entities in that travel group to move to the destination. (This type of movement is indicated by the double ship cursor.)
  • Click and drag the fleet icon next to a system to an adjacent system. This orders all entities that can move at that system to move to the destination system. (This type of movement is indicated by the triple ship cursor.)

To cancel a move, simply click-and drag the fleet/entity/travel group to the system it's already at.

When you assign movement to a travel group, a moving blue dot will appear in the jump lane, showing how far the group will travel along that jump lane during this turn. The ship with the lowest Jump sets the speed for the entire group. (For example: You form a travel group of four ships with Jump 3 and one ship with Jump 2. During this turn, the entire group will move two segments along the jump lane to its assigned destination.)

It may take multiple turns for a travel group to reach its destination, depending on its speed and the length of the jump lane. You can look at a travel group in the Information Panel to see the ETT (estimated travel time) required for it to reach its assigned destination.

A travel group that does not contain a ship cannot move. If any ship in a travel group cannot move, it will be dropped from the group when the rest of it moves.

Some jump lanes are marked with arrows, indicating that ships can only begin a journey along the lane in one direction.

You may freely assign, unassign and reassign any number of move orders during your planning phase. You cannot "queue" a sequence of destinations for a single travel group.
